In a converted factory complex, MASS MoCA features 19 galleries of contemporary visual arts and performing arts. Spread over 9,300 sq m (100,000 sq ft) of space, the center also hosts festivals and performances of artists from around the world. At the center of the campus, you'll discover more than 100 monumental wall drawings and paintings that occupy nearly a quarter of the wall space. Contemplate the urban spaces depicted through feelings of desire, loss, and culture, produced by 10 different artists. Look up before you enter the museum, as there are six suspended inverted trees growing from above. For travelers who use our international travel planner, North Adams holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the MASS MoCA and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The big, bright rooms were perfect for displaying big bold canvases, light features, and dance. It was too frustrating for us to follow a map, but we enjoyed wandering through the massive buildings...

  • Wow! This is truly an amazing space for art! Visiting the building and wandering around was as much fun as looking at the art. We were a group of 7 made up of family and friends and we all enjoyed it....  more

  • This is definitely a whole day kind of event. Don't make the same mistake I did by giving it just a 2 hour window, there's so much to see! And some of the exhibits you need to reserve and hook in advance - highly recommend it. Will definitely make my way back and complete my visit next time. Also super cute to see that there was a private event happening after hours. Definitely a nice setting to hold a fancy party at!
  • Such an amazing, inspiring place! I spent 4 hours walking the grounds and exploring the galleries- every time I thought I had seen it all there was more! Really wonderful experience. The cafe is great and super well priced. I had a delicious breakfast bowl for $5. Cannot wait to come back.
  • Enjoyed my time at MASS MoCA. The experience was great and a must see. The museum is large so I'd recommend going early to try to see everything. We were almost able to see everything however, we got turned around a few times as the map isn't clear and not all the building are connected. The art is amazing, the staff are friendly, and the location is great. We had no issues with parking. We did get a bit hungry and visited their cafe but their kitchen was closed until 6PM and all that was available was cakes, muffins, cookies, beverages, and ice cream. However, we discovered on our way out that there is a restaurant attached in the next building where you can purchase a meal. When we asked the cafe staff about food they did not mention the restaurant which was frustrating because we settled on one of their cakes and a cookie, given that we needed a pick me up. We arrived at 12PM and stood until closing, 6PM. I will definitely be returning in the future. Upon leaving the entrance area seems to transform to a lively court yard with food trucks, beer, wine, music, and seating for people to relax and enjoy themselves.
  • Really cool experience. Contemporary Art gallery contained within an old industrial factory complex. A huge maze of displays. Just when you thought you'd seen everything, you'd find an entry into another section. There's a cafe and gift shop on site. The only downside was parking, which was limited due to the large attendance on the day we went.
  • Amazing museum! Probably the largest museum I’ve ever been to; leave at least 4 hours to view all the exhibits. The art is rotated often so it’s worth going more than once. Would definitely recommend making the trip out to Western Mass, you won’t regret it! There’s also a discount with student ID
