Coquina Beach, Wanchese

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited! It has showers, changing areas, bathrooms, life guards, and pretty views! We visited August 1st, and the place is so clean and empty that we stayed for almost a whole day. I’d not recommend it to bring little kids and let them swim alone, since the waves are strong even for me (and ik how to swim). Don’t come to swim alone either, there is a riptide in the area. Overall, it’s such a beautiful place, and you don’t have to worry about it being crowded because it seems to me that this place is a hidden secret! Enjoy your beach day in Coquina Beach!

Amazing beach away from the crowds! If you want to get away from everyone, this is the place! Great for yoga or just quite walks on the beach. Black and white sands combine to make artwork in the nearby dunes! Tons of sea birds for your dog to chase down the beach. You're also allowed you to drive on the beach with a permit. The road leads right to it from the parking lot. Make sure you bring food and plenty of water, no place close to buy any. Like I said, it's away from the crowds and local shops. Great place for sunrises and sunsets!

A beach to walk for miles on! If you love beach walks away from the crowds, then this is your beach! I walked from here to the Oregon Inlet, a six mile walk round trip. Lots of room to spread out from other people. A word of Caution like other outer bank beaches, this is open to four wheeled drive vehicles. Also, rip tides frequent the area. Thus keep watch on all children and treasured items. Enjoy the beach!

Beach fires permitted. Lots of kindling around. We were the only people on the beach at sundown. Nice western view from the dunes.

Nice beach. Very empty this time of year. Had a nice walk down the beach.
