Ocean Crest Pier, Oak Island

The staff is always nice and down to earth, the bar is cute and has a good variety of drinks. The cafe is a nice addition. They have snacks, water, souvenirs, fishing gear, some clothes, etc. Bathrooms are kept clean. We love to go for a walk on the pier (yes this costs $2, but totally worth it to support a privately owned pier, especially if you're only there to walk or hang out on it). We are on the island almost every month (lucky enough to know a local) and we walk the beach to the pier from over 10 blocks away enjoying the surf and looking forward to seeing everyone there for a drink and a quick bite to eat.

Exactly as you see, your advantage basic pier. I will say that you have some excellent views at the end of the pier of Oak Islands shoreline. As reviewers have said before me, you do have to pay a dollar to access the pier. But every penny is worth it if your a coastal fisherman! You can catch pretty large fish (sometimes sharks too) at the end of the pier. If you looking to go to a more modern fishing pier than go to Oak Islands Fishing Pier. 4/5- highly recommended!

Stunning view of the ocean, sky and beach of Oak Island. We only went for views/sightseeing instead of fishing, but it seemed to be a place where many avid fishermen were doing just that. Each person costs $1 to enter. The cost was surprising but obviously affordable. I also believe worth it.

I love this pier! My daughter was baptized beside the pier I had my wedding reception at the restaurant connected to the pier (Island Way) another wonderful place. Anyway, as the preacher and my daughter were finishing a gentleman came down and asked to be baptized as well! I was overjoyed that our church organization could be influential in someone making such a decision! Also our church offers a morning service on this pier!

Great, friendly fishing pier. I have a 35 year history of fishing from Ocean Crest, but that time was also split with the former Long Beach Pier (now gone, but used to be the longest public fishing pier on the East Coast). Four stars, ONLY because I still hold the old Long Beach Pier in my heart as my favorite.
