  • Lots of room to enjoy. Not sure about lifeguards as if someone was in trouble they have no boats, rafts, preservers to help someone.

  • No lifeguards in the off season as expected but it was quiet and tucked away. Easy parking, clean restrooms but ever so windy as the Outer Banks can sometime be.

  • walking what seems like endless miles of this beach, sometimes without seeing a soul for an 1/2 hour or more was an amazing experience - the power of the surf, a perfect beach, and the backdrop of the dunes..lovely
  • Can only get there by ferry. The ferry is free, just be prepared to wait for 30 to 45 minutes to load. Trip is also about 40 minutes. Once there the food is good and shopping is fun. Blackbeard ran all over this island when he was alive.
  • Talk about a great beach! The middle of October is the off season and you can have it pretty much to yourself. Fantastic!
  • I grew up going to this beach. I have so many fond memories of here. To riding my first ferry with my papa and going up the lighthouses, to seeing my first dolphin with him and then trying to go swim with them because I was a kid and even though I couldn’t swim I didn’t understand this wasn’t a Disney movie where I could swim with wildlife lol, to meeting a cute beach boy and starring in my own romance movie and going on an adventure with him out at night and having a late night kiss before I had to leave the next morning, to seeing my family and being around my cousin who I looked up to with the upmost admiration, to almost drowning and my friends saving me. This beach… this is my favorite beach in the entire world. Not because there’s any special attractions but because this is a beach where you can make lifelong sentimental memories. I prefer the mountains over the beach, but this beach is different this beach holds a special place in my heart. This is the beach you want to visit every year and let your kids interact here. I recommend this beach 10000 times over
  • Lifeguards present and parking is easy. Great place to relax and unwind while enjoying the sound of surf. Pack a cooler, towels, and chairs and relax for a bit.
