One of coastal Maine's many charming waterfront areas, Perkins Cove evolved thanks to the efforts of local fishermen who wanted to protect their boats. The cove is a conglomeration of what were once a separate river and inlet; after fishermen constructed a canal, erosion created the body of water in place today. You can explore the seaside and its host of dunes and beaches, as well as the town of Ogunquit, a former artists' colony home to shops, studios, and eateries.     A fun place to visit for the afternoon. You can visit some of the local shops and stop at a couple local bars for a light lunch or some good sightseeing

    I really like Ocgunquit and this cove seems like its epitome to me. Picturesque and yes sweet. Very photogenic.

    We walked Marginal Way and ended in Perkins Cove, The view was spectacular! We had lunch in Perkins Cove and visited all the shops. Was a great experience.
