The temperate rainforest stretches 39 km (24 mi) along the Hoh River, and it is partially contained and protected by Olympic National Park. Explore this river valley, created by glaciers thousands of years ago, via the various trails throughout the forest. For a short hike, try the Hall of Mosses Trail, a 1.3 km (.8 mi) journey, or walk the 1.9 km (1.2 mi) Spruce Nature Trail. If you are interested in a longer adventure, take on the 27.8 km (17.3 mi) Hoh River Trail. Stop by the visitor center for more information on the trails and diverse wildlife you will have the chance to see. Campsites are available in the park, but be prepared for heavy rain depending on the time of year. Being here in February, it was not very busy at this site in the Olympic National Park. You do have to pay a fee to get into the park and the road to the rainforest off the main highway is windy so..... more

This place has its own feels. So green and fresh with moss. There are many different trails for hiking and so many activities going on by the visitor center that needs to be coordinated with timing as the place is deep inside the park and parking is limited. Hall of mosses trail is great if you are in a hurry to have the view and not trade off time.

Other than the long line to get in this national park is Amazing. Although I wish I visited while it was raining. The trees didn't look as majestic as I envisioned them to be. The Spruce trail was the best. The opening to the river is so nice. Very easy and everyone l accessible. Saw plenty of kids and older people out here.

Real Life Fern Gully!! We went in the winter and still everything was so green and alive, even under the snow! We saw elk, bald eagles and blue herons. Gorgeous, rushing river through moss-heavy forests. It is so quiet and serene! I recommend the Hall of Mosses to be sure, but do the whole thing! It doesn't take long, it's an easy hike and completely magical. Can't wait to go back in the Summer!

It is absolutely stunning here! This should be on everyone's bucket list! So much to look at and the green is so vibrant and the water is the most pure clear water I've ever seen. I loved the informational signs along the way too. Parking is a bit of a challenge and you may have to wait sometimes but it is definitely worth it!

This is such a magical place to visit. We highly recommend all the hikes, we did not do the long hike we just did the shorter ones. The visitor center is very good & there are a lot of plaques and informational signs along the hikes. We went early morning, I would recommend mornings because by 9 AM the parking lots are packed.
