  • We hiked the Storm King Trail after a short hike to Marymere Falls near Crescent Lake. The trail is short, less than 2 miles, but quite steep with switchbacks all the way. As you get near the end...

  • The view at the top was amazing. So worth the hike. I was very nervous about the rope climb but it was not that difficult. I recommend hiking boots and gloves for the rope climb.

  • Loved this hike! Definitely will feel it the next day but the views are amazing. By the time we got to the ropes, heavy, dark clouds had rolled in and unfortunately we couldn't continue. If you're afraid of hikes, the last portion may not be for you as there are steep drop offs on either side of a very, very narrow path. This is right before the ropes. Overall, it's a beautiful hike with rainforest, views, and fun challenges.
  • Incredible hike, even in not so perfect conditions! Take your time on this one because it's all uphill. A lot of the roped areas beyond the maintained trail aren't crazy inclines and you can get up with some careful footing (though the ropes are a nice security, especially if you aren't blessed with grace). I found them more helpful on the descent. I wasn't lucky enough to see sweeping views due to fog, but the summit was rewarding anyway. A must-do if you're up for a challenging trail that won't suck up your entire day.
  • One of my favorite hikes ever! We did this yesterday morning at around 8am. I felt challenged but didn’t think it was as intense as I had heard - for example, I found Chimney Tops in The Smokeys to be more challenging, but I think that’s because this was less man made stairs and more uphill climbing, also the last bit has ropes that help a lot. We brought gloves for the ropes, but saw there was a big pile of gloves for those who need them. I didn’t think they were necessary on the way up, but if you don’t want or rope burn I’d make use on the way down. It took us about three hours total from start of the car and back. Went and did Merymere falls first because it was so close, which is just a short distance away. The hike didn’t kill us for the day as we went on to do many more after, but definitely go early. As we went up we only encountered a few serious hikers on their way down and were at the top with one other couple, but on our way down the place was swarming with a bunch of people wearing polos and sneakers who literally had no idea what they were in for. So go early to get your space and before the clouds roll in. We had great views and rainbows too. Would love to do this one again!
  • Absolutely gorgeous!! 🙂🤗 The last 3/4th with the ropes and rocks are a little difficult - but definitely doable! 🙂 Make sure you’re carrying a lot of water. When I went, there weren’t too many bugs or birds. I’d recommend hiking poles as the climb is steep - but, the secret is to keep a slow, but steady pace. Take small steps ensuring that your breathing is close to normal! One call out - when you’re near the ropes area, communicate with the other people hiking to let them know your intention and try to use the rope one person at a time! There is a ranger station & restrooms at the trail head. While there is parking, it gets full around 9 am. But, you can park at the boat ramp area!
  • Mount Storm King in Olympic National Park is the perfect hike if you are looking for a challenge... I hiked this trail on 7/10/2022. The hiking distance was a little under 5 miles Out&Back. It also has a huge elevation gain. Overall, it was a fantastic hike with trails that are well maintained, and a lot of switchbacks. It even had stretches of rope sections. And those passes were a little narrow, so that hikers had to share that part of the trail a lot closer to each other than usual. There was also a little bit of edge rock climbing without the benefit of rope or handrails for use in scrambling up to the summit, so one had to be careful. However once there, the view from the summit was unforgettable, spectacular, magnificent, phenomenal, and also so breathtaking, as I had run out of breath getting there. You'll need your hiking shoes, trekking poles, water, snacks, and don't forget the camera(s). I highly recommend this hike to anyone looking to enjoy a class 3 hike.
