Beyond the Grape, Pensacola

I have never been treated so terribly than this place treated me not even 5 minutes after walking in the door. We were greeted by the owner and I had told him that we paid for 2 tickets for a class and asked how it worked. I also stated that I had tried calling and left a voicemail but didn’t get any response back. The owners eyes were blood shot red and was slurring as if intoxicated or something. Immediately he starts screaming and raising his voice saying that he is the owner of the business and pretty much denying everything that I’m saying. So I ask the owner if he could please lower his voice and stop yelling and if I could just get a refund. He states that I never paid for anything and tells us to get out. I showed him my bank statement and still denies us and tells us to get out. The owner was so violent that my bf asked me to walk out of the store and let him talk to the owner. After my bf talked to him for another 20 minutes the owner finally says fine I’ll give you your refund now get out and walks to the back of the store. I definitely will not be going back to that store and I really hope that business doesn’t run that way all the time.

Usually really great service from the owner but today I walked in to a young guy. Asked for a mango slushy and he said “honey look at the menu it’s peach”. I didn’t realize the menu change as for awhile it’s always been mango to then he responded “ I don’t know I just make them girl”. Just got my smoothie and left. Will go when the owner is there but not with his new employee. Gotta be careful who you hire.

I want to preface this with the fact I have had many great experiences at this store previously. I have come to Beyond the Grape many times and order a 10 for 10 tasting before purchasing a wine. However, there is a employee working there that is so rude it cause me to walk out of the store without purchasing, tasting or anything. The employee was on his phone and didn’t bother to look up when I entered. I greeted him friendly and I asked if I could have a tasting. He look at me asked me what type? I wasn’t sure what he meant so I said “I’m not sure what you mean”. He then rudely said to me they they don’t do free tasting and that this isn’t Cisco, and that I have to book an event. His demeanor was nasty and he seem bothered that I even talk to him. No one else was present in the store. They’re attitude was so nasty I would rather just leave than deal with a person like that. After reading the reviews I have seen other reviewers also mention a rude employee, I instantly knew what the reviewer was talking about. I believe it’s likely the same person. Honestly I think they shouldn’t work in a store were their attitude directly effects sales. I know the owner doesn’t operate his store that was so it’s sad to see it being tainted by a bad employee. I like the store but if I see that employee I would rather just walk by than speak to them.

Usually love it here but the newer employee is absolutely awful with customer service, makes me only want to come in when the owners there, as I can see from other responses everyone’s on the same page. The younger gentleman seems like he couldn’t care less to be there and full of sarcastic remarks.

I would never have expected to find a quality enoteca tucked away in the corner of a mall. Great selection! We fell instantly for the sweet tannins of a raspberry blend from Murielle Winery.
