  • This is simply a wonderful place, but I had a little difficulty finding it using Google Maps. Google kept putting me to the education center which, being a Sunday, wasn't open so no one could tell...

  • Amazing site. It’s is a great history of the battle and the museums are great love the walk through a soldiers experience. The earthworks are a great walk and the recreated trenches are awesome for realization of the battle. It is a must stop for history people and non history people. The plantation and houses show the civilian life as well. And are just as important.
  • A gem. Amazing, interactive exhibits. Knowledgeable staff and entertaining tour guides. Update 6/28/2022: Had to kill some time with my four year old grandson, so I brought him here. He had a good time, rushing through most things. The "Trial by Fire' exhibit (think that's what it was called) was a bit too intense for him. Bottom-line--not an ideal place for younger children unless you spend most of your time outdoors. The staff was very patient and helpful. The gift shop was grandson's favorite place. He took a long time to choose a wooden cannon souvenir.
  • Poorly ran. Need to learn how to properly hire ...and fire. Employees. Also. U can't let someone go. And not give a reason. And just say. Good luck. That's against the law law read the posted rights. Of employees and employers.
  • Wonderful historical area. Outdoor exhibits are great to walk through and the museums audio tour is engaging. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history.
  • This place is great! Very well put together historical grounds and information centers. We came on a weekday in the afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. There are guided portions of the entire facility, or you can get an audio guide from the main building at the entrance. We elected to use the audio tour guide device and went throughout the grounds leaning as we went. The Tudor plantation was so neat, live animals and walk through out buildings immersed us in the time period. The house was set up as the troops would have had it when it was used as a headquarters. The slave houses on the grounds were very eye opening to the living quarters for a slave at a plantation. The battlefield area was set up as a replica of how battle positions and fields of fire would have been established. At the field camp, we were given a demonstration and and information on daily life for a soldier living in the field by two reenactors. Both did an excellent job answering questions and gave a demonstration of the rifles that would have been carried in battle. Beyond the recreated encampment, actual Confederate earthworks can be seen still intact. We spent several hours here and didn't even see everything. If someone wanted to take in all the available information at the Pamplin Historical Park, I would at least allow for 4-5 hours, but you could easily spend more time than that. 5 stars for sure.
