Picacho Peak State Park is a state park surrounding Picacho Peak in Picacho, Arizona. The park is located between Casa Grande and Tucson near Interstate 10 in Pinal County. Its centerpiece spire is visible from downtown Tucson, a distance of 45 miles (72 km). The summit rises to 3,374 feet (1,028 m) above mean sea level. Though appearing to be the remnant of a volcanic neck, it is now believed to be a tilted and eroded piece of rock overlain by a lava flow.

  • Beautiful park! Stunning desert landscape! Nice campground with showers but no water filling place. There is a drinking fountain in the visitor center. And there are dish sinks! Awesome stay! Will definitely stay again when I come by this way!
  • We absolutely loved this park! Easy access from highway, plenty of room, paved, quiet, clean bathrooms and wifi. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The views were stunning and the grounds were all very clean. The showers were hot and clean and really nice bathrooms. We can’t wait to come back and stay longer. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring along with hook ups. Can’t beat the cost and the views!!
  • As always, a fabulous place. The camp sites are very nice and had plenty of room and included a fire pit and electricity. They apparently are short on water so the drinking fountains could not be used. It is a little difficult walking to the bathroom at nite as you could end up in a campsite instead of following the road. The freeway noise is something you seem to get used to and I do like the sound of the trains. The views are outstanding and there are several great trails with the climb of Picacho Peak being the highlight that I last climbed 10 years ago. There are cables involved and I highly recommend gloves.
  • We climbed Picacho peak 3374 feet via Hunter trail. It is a difficult trail especially if you have any hip, knee, ankle, shoulder or arm problem. You climb up and down this trail and use metal cables to climb up/down to the peak. If you have any physical activity you can make the climb if you take your time and take breaks. Bring lots of water and clean up after yourself. Great views.
  • Cool place to hike, wasn't busy when we visited. Got some excellent pictures when I went up the mountain (hill?). Anyway, found this place on the way home, got some good exercise in.
