Sly Park Recreation Area, Pollock Pines

My In-laws we're camping up here during the week so my wife and our newborn daughter came up to join them. They were able to snag a "premium campsite" right next to the lake overlooking the beach and the lake, with an incredible view all day long, from the crisp sunrise, to the pleasantly shaded sunny day, to the insanely gorgeous sunset. It was not even slightly crowded during our time there, which made enjoying the lake, the trails, and the campground even better!

Sly Park Recreation Area is a small, beautiful reservoir in a forested area. Really beautiful!Great for boating, kayaking, paddle board & swimming! They offer camping and from what I could see the sites were shaded. There are hiking trails and I read there is a waterfall! Please be aware the area is red dirt by nature. We stopped to swim in an area that had soft, red clay as a bank that we sank in as we got off the boat. But, other areas were more suitable for beaching.

I was told about sly park from a family member and I'm so glad they did. I went while it was cold and raining but I brought some equipment to make sure I could handle the weather. The views here are breathtaking! There are porta potties and places already designated for you to set up camp and start enjoying the scenery. There is also some shopping not too far away just in case you do forget something that you needed. I would highly recommend that you visit sly park if you enjoy the outdoors and camping

Beautiful lake for a day visit or camping. We used to campout once a year till COVID hit. You can rent out kayaks , paddle boards or launch your own boat.

Day use areas very crowded on weekends. Some users take over campsites and it is hard to find staff to get them to move especially if they are away but still blocking site. Consider this when you reserve site. Still a beautiful area.
