  • The home is closed to tours because of COVID. It is on the road to Cape Blanco Lighthouse. We got out and snooped around. It is a beautiful spot. Hard to believe people lived there in 1898...

  • While exploring the area we stopped by to look at house and read about its history. It’s amazing such a lovely house was constructed years and years ago with nothing around for miles.

  • Closed the day we came by, but fun to wander the grounds and read the signs. A little imagination, and it comes alive :)

  • If you love the creek of old floors and seeing history first hand this is the place to go. The view from the house is so beautiful and the house itself was fun to walk through. I don’t think there is enough to look at to consider driving a long distance to go see but if you are in the area I’d go. After all it’s free and the volunteers are so kind. After you see the house there is a trail down below that takes you to the ocean. It’s a bit of a walk but it’s beautiful the whole way.
  • This is one of over 30 historic properties in Oregon and was built by Patrick Hughes and his wife Jane who came to the states from Ireland. I visited on 4th of July and it was open and staffed by two volunteer women who gave me a free tour and shared much history about this family. It this is something you’re interested in, I would recommend going on a day they are open for tours (I think Monday thru Wednesday).
  • It's okay. There is a light house nearby. Nice ocean view around the light house and a nice walk trail towards light house.
  • Amazing history behind this whole family history .how this Victorian home was built. And all the antique furniture inside. You have too see it for yourself
  • An amazing piece of local history and glimpse into the lives of yesteryear. Having grown up in the area, I've visited Hughes House for many, many years. We still go nearly every Christmas.
