Peninsula Park is a public park in the Piedmont neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The 16.27acre park is located in the North Portland neighborhood and contains a outdoor swimming pool, community center, baseball fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, covered picnic areas, a historic gazebo and other amenities. In 2007, area residents started to propose a piece of public art be added to the park honoring Rosa Parks, as the park lies along Rosa Parks Way.Rose gardenPeninsula Park became the city's first public rose garden in 1909 when it was purchased for $60,000 with funds raised in a 1908 bond measure. Designed by Emanuel L. Mische, the two-acre garden contains 5,700 roses featuring 75 varieties. The official rose of Portland, named Mme. Caroline Testout, was cultivated at Peninsula Park. In 1913, the park was chosen as the location for an annual rose show, where it remained until Washington Park was selected as the location of the International Rose Test Garden in 1917.For travelers who use our international travel planner, Portland holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Peninsula Park and Rose Gardens and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Truly enjoyed a day walking through the roses. They do a beautiful job with this garden! Would 10/10 recommend visiting.

Every time I passed this park, I thought of Paris. Turns out it was designed by Olmsted architects who modeled it on the Luxembourg Gardens. We moved to this neighborhood, largely because of this...

Absolutely gorgeous park with a tremendous variety of roses, including hybrids. Some varieties, I had never heard of before seeing them here. A beautiful fountain is in the middle. Very relaxing and very beautiful. There is a reason that Portland has called the Rose city. The city of Portland has done tremendous job keeping this park clean & trimmed.

We visited the park on July 29th, 2022, which is almost at the end of the season. The roses were not in their full glory but we enjoyed the outing. The splash pad is awesome for kids and my son thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a peaceful and well maintained park and makes for a good outing if you have kids.

If you're looking for roses in Portland, most people think of the famous International Test Rose Garden... But the roses at Peninsula Park were actually more enjoyable. Well laid out with a variety of roses and a water fountain in the middle... What's not to love?
-
Beautiful park with gorgeous trees, lovely lilacs, a hedged rose garden and large gazebo and fountain. Really cute and well kept playground for kids too. Fun for the whole family!
-
We enjoy playing in the fountain here on a hot day. Lots of dogs & friendly people. Beautiful setting. Splash pad at the playground is unfortunately one of the weakest of any that we've been to
