  • This place is horrible and they are crooks. Rita, the gm is horribly rude and they rounded up every charge we made at the resort without our consent. They charged us for two nights stay and we left...

  • Didn’t read reviews before booking and was a little skeptical at first after reading them, but upon arriving we thought it was great! We stayed in room 302 and thought it was nice perfect for a 5 person family. It’s hard to find anywhere fun to go for $1,000 so this was perfect and only an hour away for a quick weekend away. The water park wasn’t busy at all. There were plenty of tubes. There were no bed bugs. The arcade was a blast! Would definitely recommend others to stay and I would go back. Ashley at the bar was also awesome! There are busier times I’m sure. Most of these reviews I read were spring break. The times are tough with staffing. I wouldn’t judge some of these “Karen reviews” I thought it was great. Kids had a blast and we would go again!
  • Absolutely loved the back forty cabins. Just incredible. Very clean and well kept with many amenities to use. My family loved the games provided like yahtzee. They loved the loft room for all the kids. Firewood was delivered right to your cabin. Walking distance to the cute little town. Ice cream was delicious. It was quiet and relaxing. Many things to do around the area. Definitely recommend them. Just wonderful experience for our first time.
  • The Double JJ resort was the perfect venue for my wedding. We held our wedding and reception at the Back Forty barn lawn and dance hall. From our first visit and all the way through the planning process the venue coordinator Brandy was nothing but wonderful. Every question was responded to quickly, every alteration to a package or add on was given careful consideration, and she always made me feel like we were a top priority. Our day went seamlessly and we heard nothing but great things from our guests. We had many people stay in the thoroughbred suites and some stay in cabins and they were all pleased with the accommodations as well.
  • So overall, not a bad place. The room was dated, but clean and you can tell that it was once very high end. Our biggest complaint was the restaurant. When we checked in, they told us no reservations were necessary. When we arrived at the restaurant at 5:00pm they told us they were completely booked with reservations and they couldn’t seat us. We were able to eat at the bar. However, about 10 min after we sat down, another couple came in who were in the same situation. After they were seated, a staff member came in to tell them that they did have a table after all. The bar started to really fill up with all the hotel guests that weren’t able to have dinner. There was one bartender who was completely overwhelmed by having an unexpected 30 people wanting dinner service that she wasn’t used to doing. It was very poorly done. The next morning at breakfast, that same poor girl was the only one bringing drinks to all the tables. I had completely finished my food by the time my coffee came. I am not sure if it was poor planning on the resorts part or if people called in sick. But a remote resort needs to have good dining because there is literally nothing else near by.
  • I was there during labor day weekend with my family. Our first night there our family went to dinner at the restaurant on site. We stood at the hostess counter for roughly 20-25 before any employee even acknowledged us. Then we waited an additional 40 mins to be seated at a table, with a very hungry 20 month old baby. All weekend anytime we asked a question to a staff member the only response we got was "I don't know" or We're short staffed". News flash, everyone is short staffed right now so you can't use that as an excuse for things. Saturday evening it was raining so after dinner we thought we'd go do some glow golfing but when we got there at 7:45pm we were told that we couldn't do it because they were closing everything early that night. We had children that were very disappointed that they didn't get to glow golf all because your staff couldn't be bothered to stay open 1 more hour. So we let the kids play in the arcade since that was all that was left for them to do but half those games were out of service. We ended up back in our room by 8:05pm since there was nothing else for us as a family or for the kids to do. Lucky for you we as a family know how to make our own fun together in our room. This is not a "resort" I would recommend to anyone. Which is sad because I truly believe this place has a lot of potential with the right ownership and management. But I don't think it has that right now. I believe the people running it don't care whether this place succeeds or not.
