  • This is like a mini Williamsburg on the western bank of the Chesapeake not far from the airbase and then incredible little find. A colonial village much of which has been restored much of which is...

  • Very interesting place to learn colonial history of MD. I especially like that there are people dressed in period clothes who tell you the stories and give demonstrations. The staff was really nice and great with answering questions. My favorite part was the tobacco plantation, my husband's was the Maryland Dove. Beautiful setting as well.
  • Our daughter's 4th grade field trip here was cancelled because of the pandemic, so we decided we would go to get the experience for her. This was the original capital of Maryland before it was moved to Annapolis. There are great exhibits throughout which detail what happened at St. Mary's city. The staff is very friendly and willing to share the history. This includes lessons in writing with a quill, a printing press demonstration, tour of a replica ship, native plants, how to make string by hand. The plantation which is a short drive has representative animals and plants, both native and that were brought from England. Visiting was a great time and exceeded our expectations.
  • Really interesting history in a unique setting on a gorgeous waterfront. I spent 3 hours & that wasn't enough to capture all this spot has to offer. Go! Also, friendly staff at the Visitor Center & throughout the City.
  • Loved this place. So did my 10 yo daughter. Staff couldn’t have been nicer, even on a dreadfully hot day. Plantation was a hit for my daughter with all of the animals.
  • Great place to visit if you like Maryland history. Beautiful water view.! Staff is very friendly , helpful and demonstrates knowledge of colonial history.
