When passing through San Antonio, don’t miss dining in the rotating restaurant at Tower of the Americas. This 230 m (750 ft) tower, located in the middle of HemisFair park, was the tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 until 1996. The panoramic view is best seen from the observation desk, which is easily accessible by an elevator. If you like a challenge, though, you can climb the 952 steps to the top. A 4-D movie about the history of Texas is included in the ticket price. Make Tower of the Americas a part of your San Antonio vacation plans using our San Antonio trip planning app.

  • The views are beautiful of course, but they should get rid of all of the random video games they have posted up where you walk around to look at the views, it feels very cheap and tacky.

  • Absolutely beautiful! You have to pay to park but when you walk into the park, there are waterfalls everywhere. We arrived at night time. The trees were lit up with lights, and even though it was 30 degrees outside, the waterfalls were still flowing! There is an arcade area on the lower lever, a shopping center, and plenty of things to wonder around and see. The elevator to go up the tower is fast once you get in it, but the wait to get on the elevator takes a while. The Chart House restaurant is located at the top of the tower. Make a reservation!
  • Dining at the top of the Tower of Americas in the Chart House was a first class experience. Our server Iasiah was efficient, knowledgeable, & professional & made us feel as if we were the only customers there, (although the restaurant was full). They're fortunate to have him on their staff, he's what upscale service is all about. Food was delicious & artfully prepared. The 360' slowly revolving restaurant was quite the experience affording panoramic views of the entire city & Alamo, etc. below us as we dined. Atmosphere was friendly & suitable for romantic dinners, family dinners & celebrations. We recommend this restaurant if you're traveling to San Antonio, & if we're in town again would definitely be back NOTE: Reservations are recommended so call in advance as they are almost always full.
  • Nice place to visit if your passing through town. There is an observation deck that you can pay a fee to go up to, or, if you eat at the Chart House, there’s no cost to ride up. However, your meal will set you back some, so be prepared by looking at the menu in advance so you are prepared for the bill. It will be easy to spend $50/person after tax and tip, and up from there. There is a gift shop and some other things on the ground level, and the outside area is nicely decorated with some rocks and falls. It’s not a place you may want to come back to regularly, but an occasional stop for a visit, or when passing through town here and there, it’s worth a stop. It’s also a stop on the city bus tour, so if you have tickets to that, you can be brought up within walking distance.
  • It was standard fare as far as observation towers go. The view of San Antonio was nice. Bar is a floor down and restaurant is below that. You can walk outside around the observation deck which can be a windy experience. 4d theater on first floor was cool. Lots of gift shop area and history on walls on first floor. The park is undergoing major construction so lots of areas are closed making it more difficult to get there on foot. There is a pay for parking lot decently close by.
  • We loved it. The wait time was short. It is walking distance from the river walk. Very high. The very top is the inside viewing level. You can walk all the way around it then one staircase down leads to the outside viewing level. Wonderful views all around. The restaurant rotates one complete turn every hour. You must have reservations to eat there. Secret trick. The bar is available without reservations and you can order the same food from there and you look right down into the restaurant as it rotates. Very nice bar area too with ample seating. We had drinks and dessert because we had just eaten. Very cool experience.
