Spanning more than 16 blocks of downtown San Diego, the city's historic center is called Gaslamp Quarter and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Its Victorian-era buildings are now home to shops, sidewalk cafes, restaurants, bars, and more. Wander the streets and explore the many theaters, galleries, and museums that make the area a cultural hub. Be sure to keep an eye out for some of the replicas of the historical gas-powered lamps, the namesake of the district, which have been reinstalled at one intersection. Plan your visit to Gaslamp Quarter and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our San Diego trip app.

Wow - how far down has this area come? Memories of a vibrant, interesting area of San Diego is now replaced by images of closed store fronts, homeless people everywhere, construction sites, trash...

Beautiful experience if you've never been to San Diego. Gaslamp Quarter has the most beautiful buildings and wonderful restaurants and nightclubs. If you're a tourist looking for San Diego's hottest spot, Gaslamp Quarter is your best bet! Or if you're just looking for a nice night out, downtown is always amazing.

It's a great area if you're interested in bar hopping and clubbing. Lot more homeless people in this area. Stick to the first couple blocks, the further up you go, the worse it gets. I would never walk alone

Gas lamp was cool when I moved here 10years ago. Now it's very dangerous. Alot of people are getting killed in the gas lamp now days .

In San Diego's cityscape shibes bright, The Gaslamp moonshine to lite your night. Where Victorian ghost charm and hippsters unite, A destination both day and night. No historic lamps line its streets, Libations a plunty, you ensured to find sheets. A stroll through this district can't be beat, And leave you in love or in heat.

A lot of good restaurants, but also a lot of drunk people out, giving the neighborhood a very dingy vibe. I'd come for food and leave. Not the best for walking around.
