Chaucer's Bookstore, Santa Barbara

Such a great one stop shop for birthday presents! They have a book for everyone and every theme. My kids can’t walk out empty handed either. They wrap presents beautifully and have amazing knowledge staff.

This place is full of books and they are also on the carpeted aisles. The place is too crowded too bright;makes me wanna read and stop. It lacks the coolness of a Book Den.

If you've been to the beaches and State Street, you may think you've been to Santa Barbara. But if you haven't been to Chaucer's books, you haven't really been to Santa Barbara. On my most recent visit, they had two books in stock I've been looking for everywhere. There's lots of eclectic offerings as well as unique cards and journals. If you are staying a while, pick up a tides schedule or calendar. There are plenty of other beautiful books about the area and by local authors as well. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. In short, Chaucer's is a bookstore the way bookstores were meant to be.

Much better experience this time! Wonderfully helpful woman in the children's area who helped my 5 year old granddaughter find the perfect book. She also found a stool for me so I didn't have to sit on the floor. The man who checked us out was very friendly and helpful as well. Great book selection!
