New Mexico Legislature, Santa Fe

Anytime I'm in a capital city, I always want to check out the state capitol building. The New Mexico State Capitol is in a league of its own! First, the exterior doesn't look like the typical style as most other capitol buildings advertise the United States. The interior is reminiscent of the pueblo style of the area and includes many pieces of artwork from New Mexico artists. In reality, this place is like an art museum aside from its governmental role. Very cool place to visit

So, I'm a recent transplant to New Mexico. I reside in Albuquerque. I took the Rail Runner train up to Santa Fe, yesterday, for the first time for my hastily thrown together last minute planned day trip. I absolutely loved Santa Fe. And I do mean I loved it. New Mexicans should be proud to call a city like Santa Fe their capital. So, I started my day upon disembarking from the train sort of just stretching my legs and walking heading nowhere in particular. And voila! There's the Roundhouse right in front of me. I so loved my experience touring this beautiful state capitol. I had no idea that it held such a fantastic collection of art. I probably spent an hour just taking in all the amazing art. I went on to tour The New Mexico Museum of Art and they were both equally impressive. Best capitol I've ever visited outside of our nation's capitol. If you're visiting Santa Fe I completely recommend a visit here.

This is an art gallery and a Capitol. I love all the artwork here and the flags representing the various tribes in the state. There is a security checkpoint that takes maybe 2 min then you can wander all the floors and see the various artwork.

This state capital is 3 stories of local artistry displayed. Think of it as going to an art museum of local artists. Loved seeing the talent of NM displayed. Easy to get to, park for free at the visitor center across the street.

Wow, what a wonderful display of art here! I enjoyed it as much or more than some of the city's museums. The support for art in Santa Fe is huge. No wonder have artists settled here from the 1890s on. Don't miss this beautiful building & 3 floors of art.
