The sand is great. Watching people trying to surf (some successfully) is entertaining. Beach combing for all sorts of treasures was fun.

I come from Greece and I am used to beautiful beaches and the sun. I did not expect to live this experience in LA though. The beach is really big, almost endless. The weather in March was hot enough to enjoy the ride and the walking but cold enough not to swim.

Santa Monica offers something for everyone. If you have kids, the pier is the place with rides and lots of fun people watching. And there is a large choice of eating places, whether you want sit down in a restaurant or walk around. The beach goes forever and you can walk, swim, play volleyball, whatever suits you.
