  • A great "off-the-beaten-path" museum. The caretaker is a wealth of information, and has a passion for taking care of the site. We really were impressed with the authenticity of the cottage, as well...

  • Do this museum in conjunction with the laboratory museum to gain a better understanding of how tuberculosis and the search for a cute helped shape Saranac lake in the late 1800’s . This museum...

  • the grounds and outside of the cottage needs some TLC. but i can understand if your not a fan of Robert Louis Stevenson you will not come here. i love old house and there is a ton of original artifacts here to see. so if your a fan than this would be a real treat for you. the tour guide was good but towards the end of the tour he must of had a brain fart because he lost his train of thought and ended the tour by saying "whatever, if you have any questions let me know". my friend and i look at each other and did what we could to hold back the laughter. the cottage is half private residence and half museum and worth the 5 buck to see. i just hope the give the cottage a new coat of paint. i hate to see a historical place start to rundown like that.
  • Great museum off the beaten path.
  • You have to rate to review but this is just to alert people that while Google may reflect the museum is open it was not open. Actually the signage stated it is open from July 1 until September 1 and for a few hours in the morning and then a few hours in the afternoon. Would’ve loved to been able to view this museum.
  • Incredibly informative display of his history and travels and writings. So many original artifacts. Very accessible and only a $5 admission fee. An absolute must
  • To help family understand region...worthwhile to e destination. Parking etc not great. But worth touring,!!!? Not huge. So enough to see before children get antsy.
