Savannah's main cemetery for over century, Colonial Park Cemetery has over 9,000 graves. New interments stopped in 1853, but the cemetery remained open for the public. The grounds are landscaped with local species, including trees draped with Spanish moss that give the city its mysterious vibe. The cemetery is a peaceful place for a walk; stop to read the tombstones of those that helped build Savannah. • This old cemetery is very well maintained. And has very old graves and tombstones. It’s nice for a stroll and there are several famous people from hundreds of years ago.

  • First time in Savannah we got to stop in during the day and enjoy a walk through instead of around at night when it’s closed. My daughter got to burn off some energy walking the paths and I got to...

  • If you like cemeteries this is one to visit. A lot of historic relevance with a dueling ground nearby! Open until 8 pm and no admission fees.

  • Very interesting cemetery to visit. There are historical marker signs that allow a very informative self guided tour. Many interesting and notable figures buried here. A section in the back of the cemetery is lined with marker that couldn't be replaced after the cemetery was used for a camp by Union soldiers. Unfortunate how many Graves will never be marked properly.
  • Honestly, as someone who has visited quite a number of cemeteries over the years, it's okay. If you are in the area already and it's on your way somewhere, why not take a detour through, but don't expect much mind-blowing historical markers (facts) or beauty/ beautification compared to other cemeteries in the local area and elsewhere. It can also get very crowded quickly making any effort at photography a fighting one.
  • Another of the stop in the ghost tour of the district. This cemetery is also ripe with ghost sightings. Surrounded by grill walls, it hosts old graves, which are said to have mismatched tombstones (due to a chapter in history). It provides a clam stroll while you can absorb the long history of people lying under the graves and crypts.
  • good ole historic cemetery, was interesting to walk around and see all the old coffins. some of the gravestones are so tarnished that you cant even read it, but thats old history for you!
  • Beautiful Resting Place! Loved reading the old headstones. Ate my lunch here :)
