Create an itinerary including Juliette Gordon Low's Birthplace
At Juliette Gordon Low's Birthplace, you can explore the family home of the founder of the Girl Scouts. The museum, also once the home of Savannah mayor and Supreme Court Justice James Moore Wayne, has been restored to how it might have looked in the 1880s. Take a tour of the historical property to learn about the Gordon family and how Juliette founded the Girl Scouts in 1912. You will see many original family furnishings and artworks by Juliette. Girl Scout pins and patches--as well as the famed Girl Scout cookies--are sold at the museum's store. Take the guesswork out of planning a Savannah vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

  • Judy was an excellent, knowledgeable guide. Of interest even to the non-girl scout. Describing a family and how it lived before and well after the Civil War. It still has the feel of a family...

  • My sister dragged us here to relive her girl scouts days when she had visited previously. As an adult, it's an entirely different experience, realizing what an innovative and creative woman she was. Since I've visited other historic homes, I appreciate how many rooms are open to the public here. Guided tours only. House is immaculately preserved with art work and sculptures created by Juliette herself. Love the library dedicated to women authors. All the staff we interacted with were pleasant. They have a nice gift shop, even if they don't sell girl scout cookies 😫
  • JGL was an amazing woman, especially considering the time period and place she was born. This museum was a great educational experience. My tour guide was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed seeing all of the period specific furniture mixed in with real art and belongings of Juliette and her family. A must see for all- Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts alike! I bought my tickets online and it was very easy. Quick walk from my hotel on the river. Girl Scouts can pick up special souvenir pins for their uniforms to commemorate their visit at the Gift Shop. Highly recommend!!
  • Very good, interesting guided tour. Every Girl Scout should go once in her lifetime. The tour lasted about 40 minutes. The gift shop needs many more items to choose from, but it is small so that's probably why not much merchandise.
  • We went almost 3 years ago for the first time. This trip showed the facility has made considerable improvements and updates! They've updated the gardens and the lobby and the restrooms. They have a lovely gift shop. If you start singing, "make new friends..." You will not be singing alone by the time you get to, "but keep the old." The facility is handicap accessible. It has working air conditioning which gives you a nice reprieve from Savannah's heat, humidity, and pollen.
  • Had a wonderful tour with my Girl Scout Troop. Unfortunately, our small group could not participate in a Troop only tour or activity (need 8 or more for that), but the tour we had was informative and well done. Was here 4 years ago with my older Troop and I love the newly renovated reception area, gift shop and court yard.
