The road to the lighthouse is blocked during renovations. You can still see it, however. Don't forget to visit Ft. Lincoln while in the area!

My family and I had a wonderful time. The park is beautiful ❤️ lots of great fishing spots. Beautiful beach. Boat rentals also. The light house was closed so we couldn't see inside but it was still really neat. We will definitely be planning another trip. Veterans also get in free. $5.00 per car.

Visited off season (Halloween weekend) so entire park was pretty empty. Loved walking the dog on the empty beaches looking for sea glass, and found some nice pieces! Bathroom was clean, plenty of parking in various locations. Looks like would be great area for a summer picnic as there are tons of tables with charcoal grills. Perfect mix of history and nature to keep everyone in my family busy for hours.

Point Lookout State Park is an ideal combination of history, nature, and social interaction within the community, making the location ideal for couples, families, and lone adventurers. Offering views of the Potomac River over rocks and beachheads, the Virginian shoreline over the sunlit water, and Lake Conoy over tall reeds, the natural beauty of the park is immediately apparent. Upon further inspection, the wildlife present in the park reveals itself, from catfish to eagles to the smallest of chickadees, effortlessly bolstering the physical beauty of the park. Featuring the Prisoner of War Camp and the reconstruction of Fort Lincoln, the historical importance of the sight can almost be understated and go unnoticed. If visitors take the time to walk the walls of the fort and read the signs of the POW buried in the wooded areas, the value of the visit will increase tenfold. Equally, the Point Lookout Lighthouse, which, although closed for renovations, offers spectacular views (and photo opportunities) for those making the effort to walk on its grounds. For those looking to spend a longer time at the park, the fishing, swimming and grilling areas will offer ample opportunity to socialize with friends and meet a few new ones along the way. For the $3 parking fees for Maryland residents is more than worth the long drive down to the tip of the Western Shore. Especially if visitors find that more than one trip is required to make the most of all the State Park has to offer. One of the only downsides to the State Park is that it can be prone to receiving high-levels of foot traffic during the summer reason, including all-day fishers, campers, and those making use of the grilling and swimming areas. For this reason, I’d recommend viewing the historical aspects of the State Park during the off-season.

The only problem we had entering was one if the automated gates would read a credit card. So we backed out and tried another. The MD road to the park is in horrible shape. They are working on it but it will be single lane all summer. The park is very nice. Scenic. Wildlife. And aside from aggressive Mzryland drivers, getting around was easy. Highly recommend.

Fun park to visit—even in the off season! There are a nice set of paths along the shore, some pretty beaches that would surely be nice in the summer, and some interesting information on Civil War history, including the remains of a small redoubt and information on prisoner of war camp that held captured Confederate soldiers. Worth a visit, but the signage is not very well done. At least with the Civil War Museum being closed in the winter, it wasn't clear where to go to park or how to find the right paths to see everything. Fortunately, there aren't many roads, so it isn't too tough to figure out. The slightly unclear directions and some missing signage drags me down to four stars, but definitely a pretty park to visit. Worth the $5 day use entry fee for an out of state visitor!
