One of Seattle's more unusual tourist attractions, Fremont Troll hides out under the Aurora Bridge. The giant stone sculpture of a troll eating a full-size Volkswagen Beetle was created by a team of local artists led by sculptor Steve Badanes. The mixed-media artwork is made of rebar steel, wire, and reinforced concrete. Though you can have your picture taken standing next to the sculpture, you can also climb on top of it and take a look at its one good eye, made from an ordinary hubcap. This is an interesting sculpture, but worth a stop only if you're in the area in my opinion. Parking was pretty easy as well.

Really cool art installation, not to busy and you can get some great pics if you climb up top. Bridge overhead looks cool if you turn around from looking at Troll and look down the street, local bus stops were close too.

It’s a brilliant public works project. I love to see the city rally around local artists. The story goes that after the bridge was erected in 1932 there have been troll sightings under the Aurora Bridge since. Hence the street being named Troll Ave. In 1989, Seattle asked the Fremont Arts Council to launch an art competition to help aid in rehabilitation of the neighborhood. Artist Steve Badanes won and built the troll you can visit today.

Cute little place. Not as great as some of the travel blogs make it out to be. There’s a nice coffee place nearby (Milstead) that you can try out since you’re in the area. If you climb up the stairs you can walk the bridge. If you climb up from the left side there’s a “troll garden” as well, where I’ve taken the picture of the tortoise.

This place was really cool with a small connecting park above the bridge. I'm glad my family and I were able to visit this site during our stay in Seattle.

This was truly a fun experience. Not many things are free nowadays but this still is and I loved every second of my visit. Doesn't have to be a long visit if you don't want it to be or you can spend a long time there. The experience is what you make of it. I'll visit again next time I'm in the area.
