  • Very nice park. We stayed in their campground. It’s kind of small but our spot was perfect for us. It had lots of shade and some privacy. The lake was closed . The weather was perfect.

  • This is a nice little park. The new bathhouse in the camping loop is great. You can actually shower without soaking your clean clothes. And you get to control when the water turns on/off! No motion sensor. Camp hosts kept everything super clean. If you combine several of the hiking trails you can put together a nice hike. Sometimes the blazes/trail markings aren't great, so you might want to use an app for way-finding. There's also a swim beach available (when it's open) and apparently you can sometimes rent a kayak to paddle around. If you've read other reviews, you know there are a lot of ants in this park. We did not have any problems with them while camping. We were careful about not leaving food out and had no problems at all.
  • Had a nice time hiking a couple of trails. Good place to bring dogs and very nice scenery. Great shade on trail. Lots of large ants though that had an uncanny ability to wind up on shoes, ankles, and dog paws. More of a nuisance than a problem. Park office is very nice. Little museum inside. Hope to camp in future
  • Nice place to go for a walk or more. You have the option for picnic area and camping. There is an information area, do stop in and get the history of the area. There are bathrooms act. The swimming area is currently closed due to not having availability of lifeguards. Which is sad, that would have been a nice place to cool off from the heat. Hopefully it will open back up. But overall it’s a good place with clearly marked trails.
  • Well marked trails and very clean park. We’ve lived in Eastern NC for years and finally made it out here. Was pleasantly surprised. Coming from the mountains, it almost felt like home on some of the trails. We hiked almost all of the trails in a few short hours. Easy hiking with nice views. The lake is small but very pretty. Will visit again!
  • We stopped in here for only one night on the way home from VA to SC. We had site number 12. a back-in site with full hook-ups, a fire pit, and large picnic table. It was gravel, level, and well shaded. The sites are well spaced apart and the park is quiet and calm. We saw the Ranger drive by 4-5 times between 3pm-9pm. The gate is secured from 9pm to 7am. There is a scenic overlook above the cliffs and a lake where you can swim and also rent canoe's, etc. There were a lot of over-the-air TV channels but no WIFI. We plan to return again so we can stay longer.
