Great Bike Tours, Shelburne

Just returned from Rhode Island with Great Bike Tours. The cycling was challenging enough to be worth the trip and the scenery was fabulous! Simon, Elliot & Julian are fun to be with and think of everything to make your trip enjoyable. If you’re on the fence - go. If you think you can’t do the cycling - check out their e-bike options. We had people of all ages and fitness levels and everyone had fun.

New Zealand - March 2023 Bike Trip After completing three bike trips (South Carolina - 2019, Rhode Island - 2022, and most recently, New Zealand - 2023) with Great Bike Tours and reading the multitude of previously posted 5-star (excellent) reviews for all the trips that GBT offers, we have come to realize there are simply not enough superlatives in the dictionary to accurately describe a Great Bike Tours experience. With the exceptional planning and brilliant execution of the trip itinerary by some of the most professional, knowledgeable, personable, and fun guides in the business, our fellow riders from Canada, New Zealand, and throughout the USA bonded as a group of friends on our “trips of a lifetime.” Much gratitude to the Great Bike Tours team of Simon, Jessica, Julian, Elliot, John, and Dan for welcoming us into the GBT family and sharing your gift of an “amazing bike trip adventure” with us. And now for the fun part, selecting our next GBT bike trip destination!

This was the first bike trip with Great Bike Tours for my wife and I, but we hope it won’t be our last. There are several reasons why: :: Simon, Jessica, Elliot and Julian are a smooth-running team who put the enjoyment of their participants first and foremost. They communicated frequently and well in advance of our Martha’s Vineyard/Nantucket bike tour, and were always available to answer any questions we had. :: They pay attention to details, including the little things, like slices of lemons and limes for our bottles of water. And during our sunset boat ride, in addition to lots of good snacks, Simon also was happy to share a stellar IPA brewed in their Vermont hometown. [If you’re a craft beer enthusiast – enough said.] :: They also paid close attention to the needs and interests of the participants. It was common for us to be taking up the rear, but Simon, Elliot or Julian was always happy to ride with us to make sure we weren’t left on our own. :: The itinerary also was infused with a great variety of non-biking activities, including stops at art galleries, museums, brewery/whiskey distiller and lighthouses. :: Meals were tasty, running the gamut from a top rung meal on our first night together, to the delicious sandwiches and pizza at a local general store. So if you want a memorable bike tour filled with adventure, good food, good company and run by a family that pulls all the pieces together seamlessly, then you don’t need to look any further than Great Bike Tours. We just finished the Golden Isles, GA tour--our first bicycling vacation and first experience with GBT. Can't say enough about this small, family-run company. Elliot, Julian, and Dan were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, enthusiastic guides. The route notes kept us on track, the provided bicycles were terrific, food and lodging choices were top-notch. We're looking forward to another trip with GBT in the future!

This was our 2nd bike trip with the Great Bike Tours family. The South Carolina Bike and Boat trip was so enjoyable! Our guides, Dan, Elliot and Julian, truly catered to our every need. Plus they are great guys to visit with! We enjoyed the mixture of biking, boating and walking. There was enough free time sprinkled in to allow us to explore the areas on our own or enjoy a little down time. All of the accommodations were beautiful with wonderful food and amenities. Riding along Hilton Head Beach was definitely a highlight of the trip. Using the Ride with GPS app made the bike routes so much easier to follow, especially those with lots of turns. We highly recommend the Great Bike Tours!
