  • We did this hike at the end of October. It was cloudy and drizzling that day but I still enjoyed this hike throughly. The autumn color was perfect. I would rate this hike as easy. The incline was gradual through out the hike. One of my friends who did this hike with me was pregnant. She was able to do this hike with breaks intermittently.
  • Short, but steep hike. Moderately difficult I'd say. The falls was beautiful in December. Exercise caution when you hike this during winters as there were few spots covered with slippery ice. No crowd when were there. Very relaxing.
  • Amazing hike. Not to bad at all. This was the first hike I did upon arrival. Not busy, it was a Thursday afternoon. Plenty of photographs to be taken!
  • Dark Hollow Falls is one of my favorite waterfall hikes in the Shenandoah national park. I recommend this hike for anyone looking for a medium to rigorous hike. The hike down to the falls is easy, getting back to your vehicle however is a steep climb. I recommend this trail during the week, and very very early during the weekend. Dark Hollow is a very popular waterfall and the parking and trail will fill up quickly with tourists.
  • Short hike, but a tough climb back up to the trailhead. Beautiful falls. Really breathtaking. We went early in the day as we figured this was a busy trail. Didn’t have any problem parking at 8:30am, but the lot was very full throughout the late morning and afternoon (weekend).
