Shiloh National Military Park, Shiloh

Shiloh National Military Park is great! I love it every time I go, this time I got to bring my grandson. The park rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Check in at the visitor center when you first arrive. You're provided with a map of the park, listing all the important places. You drive through the park at your own pace. There are plenty of places to stop and take pictures & learn about the area.

Laid out like Gettysburg with canons in place, historical markers/monuments throughout the park of what happened where; the film in the Auditorium of the Welcome Center is worth seeing! And DON'T FORGET to visit the sweet couple in the Bookstore/gift shop across the road!... I'd love to go back with More time!

Beautiful and fascinating look at American Civil War history. A couple of the exhibits and monuments need maintenance or paint, but overall a beautiful and sobering experience. Plan on watching the film at the visitor center and set aside time for the driving tour. Download the National Park Service app for a guided tour.

This place is beautiful and educational, as well as a little emotional. I would recommend starting at the visitor center and watching the 45 minute video about the battle. It's very detailed. Then head over to the bookstore where they have a ton of books and cool stuff for kids and adults. The cemetery is just behind that, and there is a path that takes you down to the river. Then you can walk or drive and take a tour of where the battle took place. You could definitely spend a whole day here, maybe two. If you have time, I suggest making the 30 minute drive to Corinth, MS where there's another museum about the battle that followed Shiloh for the railroad.

Omg this is one of the most beautiful and profound areas around the area. I just moved to Memphis from California a couple months ago and this is what I imagined Tennessee to look like. Seriously gorgeous. Services are awesome, people nice, and gorgeous scenery. Worth a trip for sure!
