Alaska Raptor Center, Sitka

Very nice center, staff are very knowledgeable and polite. It is amazing to be that close to bald eagles and other falcons and owls. I also LOVE the nature trail they have on site. So beautiful. It does not take too long to visit the center, the trail will take you a while. Either way make sure to bring your camera and sense of discovery.

This facility has a great mission and it's very interesting to visit and learn about the eagles, owls, and hawks being rehabilitated there. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. In a great natural setting, and even has a short hiking loop through the forest next to a small river.

Great experience. Quite a few eagles to see at any given time, owls, ravens, and hawks as well (mostly during the warm season). Beautiful hike down the trail will take you to the river and the Eagle pool, then up the Freedom Trail to see the muskegs and the clearing where they release the rehabilitated raptors. 583 eagles healed and released back to the wild as of today.

It was great to see the bald eagles and other raptors up close. They start with a video showing you how they operate and help the animals, then you get to go in and see the rehabilitating eagles through one way glass, so they do not know that you are there. Then you get to explore the outside area and see all the other raptors up close. There is also a trail nearby to hike. Admission was 15 dollars a person when we went.

Great educational Center! Staff here are very personable, gave firsthand experiences of the Bald Eagles that were on site and helped us appreciate the lengths it takes to mend a bird to being released or if it must remain at the site due to permanent injury. They do a great job!
