Home of John D. Rockefeller--once the richest man in America-- Kykuit features a collection of sculptures and landscaped gardens, maintained for over 100 years. The 40-room house and estate, spread over 1,380 hectares (3,410 acres), once had its own food supplies, gardeners, laborers, and security officers. The property once contained 75 houses and 70 private roads. Take one of several guided tours to see the six-story house. You'll discover underground art galleries with a collection of Picasso tapestries. Outside, expansive terraced spaces contain world-renowned 20th-century sculptures and fountains amidst valleys, and ponds. Most tours are more than two hours long, which includes a shuttle bus ride to and from the estate. The house is beautiful. The art is magnificent. The tour guide (Kelly) was knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. I could have spent the day just exploring the grounds and gardens. I don't recommend this tour for younger children but a teen that is into history or art will enjoy it. The grand tour was extensive and could be a lot of walking since it's 3 hours, but it was so worth it.

Went for the Grand tour (3 hours) and our guide Brian was a great storyteller, knowledgeable about the estate, friendly and professional. The tour started with a shuttle ride to the estate. The shuttle left the meeting spot on time, as stated on the ticket. Brian explained the history clearly and provided all the details which I much appreciated. I really enjoyed the tour, 3hrs went by really fast. There is no food and drinks for purchase on site and no breaks during the tour. The tour was semi fast-paced which I didn't mind because I wanted to see as many arts and sculptures as this place has to offer. However, if people become tired during the tour, there is an outdoor beautiful garden area to sit and relax, and can rejoin the group later. Highly recommend.

Google maps is WRONG, Set your navigation to: 381 N. Broadway Sleepy Hollow NY Google maps will take it to the exact location, but you need to go to the other location on Broadway for a shuttle to take you there (see photo) This place was a little on the expensive side considering touring mansions The shuttle was a comfortable and clean ride of only 6 minutes. The Mansion is grand, lavish, beautiful well kept. I was a little disappointed because at the admission desk they didn't offer the grand tour. So I was not able to see the bedrooms. Very disappointed. I definitely will be back again perhaps in the fall of exchange colors.

If you love touring mansions, this is the tour for you. They offer three tours. Take the Grand Tour. Absolutely worth it. Peter was my guide. He is knowledgeable and so friendly. He makes the whole experience even better. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The Grand Tour is 3 hours. If you have mobility issues, this might not be for you. Lots of up and down because you are touring the mansion (3 levels), the gardens and the coach house. You meet at Phillipsburg Manor and a shuttle takes you to and from the mansion. There is parking there. Make sure you check in when you get to Phillipsburg Manor and you will get a wristband. Gift shop is there and bathrooms available. There is also a bathroom at the end of the tour in the coach house. Everyone who works at the estate is so friendly. No large bags and you can take bottled water, but no other drinks. You must wear your mask while in the mansion but when you are in the gardens, you can pull your mask down. No photos while you are in the mansion but your allowed to take photos outside. You really learn about the Rockefeller family and their philanthropy. Enjoy, so worth it.

The grand tour was all that and more! Peter, our tour guide, was informative, humorous, and efficient. He was effective in his delivery of his information and kept us on time. I do wish the tour moved more smoothly in that it wasn't so much back and forth in the gardens. I enjoy more of a going from point A to B and then finish type of tour. It was very comprehensive and informative. Worth the money if this is an interest of yours!
