Set on a 600-acre tree nursery, The Market at Grelen is a gem. From the moment you drive down the tree-lined entrance and start to glimpse the tree rows set on the contour of the land, you will feel as if you’ve been transported to Italy. As your eyes wander from the surrounding gardens to the expansive views of the nursery to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance, you will know that you’ve arrived at a magical destination full of charm, simplicity and casual elegance. The Grelen experience is a multifaceted one and boasts a casual cafe, garden shop, event venue (weddings!), free hiking trails and a pyo farm (berries, peaches and apples). Grelen also own and manages Spotswood Lodge (www.spotswoodlodge.com) which is a beautiful farm rental. The Market at Grelen is closed from Dec. 24 - Feb. 28 for the season. We re-open for the spring on March 1!!

Had lunch here after a morning at James Madison's Montpelier. nice ambience with an active nursery surrounding you while you eat. Farm to table dishes but a little limited in variety. Very good fresh.... more

Absolutely gorgeous settling. Staff was excellent, and the food was delicious. Our cousins from San Diego are gardeners and were very impressed by nursery and gift shop.

Amazing Tree Farm near Somerset, VA. The setting overlooking the hills, the orchards and trees was beautiful. The Café offered delicious fresh salads and sandwiches. The Store was delightful. We did the hike to the orchard and picked our own apples. Lots of different varieties. We had a great time and highly recommend a trip to this delightful market and farm.

It was a perfect day trip. The gift shop and plant stands were so beautifully arranged. The five of us enjoyed the walk to the apple orchard and picked a number of different varieties. Our lunch was so fresh and delicious on their charming terrace.

The Market at Grelen in Somerset, VA is a wonderful venue for WEDDINGS! As a wedding videographer, I travel around quite a bit and see many different places. I visited here for the first time in April of 2022 to FILM a wedding and was quite impressed. The 600 acre tree nursery is quite picturesque with GREAT VIEWS in almost any direction you look. There are many great places to shoot both photos and video of the couple on their special day. When I was here, the wedding ceremony was held outside while the reception was held inside a very large stargazing tent which you can plainly see in one of my DRONE pics. I especially enjoyed riding a GATOR through the nursery and out to the hills for a sunset shoot of the couple with the mountains in the background. The footage was EPIC! This venue also includes a European Style Garden Shop, Cafe, hiking trails, and more. While I did not have a lot of time to personally work with the staff, I would highly recommend this venue based on my positive experience!

It’s a beautiful place with a great view of the valley, and they also offered apple picking and peach picking, starting around the end of August. There were also many people around the outdoor sitting area and enjoying the beautiful weather. We also saw the wedding space in front of the store. Overall, it’s a nice place to visit even though you don’t plan to buy any plants / garden tools. (Follow me on IG ➡️ miss_dawang)

Lovely nursery, shop and event venue. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at Grelen. Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning for berries and our daughter’s wedding, which will take place here next year.
