At the heart of Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Plaza offers historical sightseeing, shopping, dining, and arts. See the early 20th-century city hall that's still in use and the Bear Flag monument that marks the spot of an 1846 Mexican-American War revolt. Browse the shops for clothing, bags, jewelry, and books. Because of its proximity to wine country, you can choose from among an array of wine cellars and tasting rooms and indulge in local and imported brands. You'll find plenty of galleries here that feature historical and contemporary pieces from around the world, and the area offers numerous spots for photography. Start your visit at the visitors' bureau on the east side of the plaza. Use our Sonoma trip itinerary builder website to add Sonoma Plaza and other attractions to your Sonoma vacation plans.

Historical center of Sonoma is undeniably charming and beautiful place. 1800’s building surround the little park offering everything you may want from strolling downtown. Here you will find wine tasting rooms, the best restaurants in the area, art galleries, shopping and even little museum. Absolutely charming place it is!

Loved walking through the park like setting with all the flowers, benches, trees and beauty of buildings mixed with nature. Surrounding the square is a great mixture of history, wineries, shops and restaurants. A great way to spend the day!
-
Really good square, on Tuesday from 5-8 they have the farmers market and live music/food trucks/stands. Fun experience if your visiting during the week. It is very quiet and most spots around don't open until 11am.

If you like historical sites and/or taking pictures you should consider dropping by the plaza. The court house, Presidio, Mission, Blue Inn and Bear Rebellion Statue are all right there. The General Vallejo Home and Train Depot Museum are within easy walking distance of the square. Presidio has nice displays. Mission has some displays, a chapel and mission paintings from the 1800s. The Square has lots of shops and eateries. Went on a Friday in April and place was busy. Imagine weekends would be pretty packed.
-
Beautiful park in the middle of the town of Sonoma. Two kiddie parks, a duck pond, and plenty of space for picnicking. Food stores close by around the square including the Sonoma Cheese Factory
