Stonington Lighthouse Museum, Stonington

Very friendly staff. Knowledgeable. Many stories to share. Quaint little lighthouse in a quaint little village. Many shops nearby. Beautiful scenery. Nice little town beach down the rd. Big parking area very close Port o potty next to beach entrance. All of this within the walk from your parking spot to the lighthouse

There is an admission fee to look around the museum and an additional fee to climb the tower. You can choose to just do one or the other. The museum is small, but had a lot of interesting information. We got there as a lot of other people had come in so we had to wait for quite a while before going to the top. Because it is so small only one family is allowed up at a time. You have to climb up a staircase and then a ladder to get to the top. We had to help our little ones up and down the ladder. I would not recommend it for anyone under 5.

For any CT locals, history enthusiast, and film lovers, would love this little history rich lighthouse. The HMS Terror had a play at this lighthouse, a British shipwreck founded recently in 2016, also having film adaptations of the stories her crew had to witness. Extremely interesting to see what important small parts of history such a small town had been apart of. Would recommend to come, the museum is currently still developing into a larger building and can't wait to see how it is in the years to come.

One of many beautiful and historic treats on the Connecticut shoreline, this historic lighthouse (now a museum) is located in the heart of Stonington Borough and, in my opinion, the best way to see this area is on foot or bicycle. You miss far too much in a car. Well worth a visit.

Historic lighthouse in old Stonington Connecticut, along the Connecticut coast. This is a beautiful historic lighthouse located at the end of the road, in old Stonington. Apparently only open on the weekends, We cannot verify when it’s open because there were no signs to let us know, but it was not open on a Thursday. It looks like they’ve done some recent renovations inside. But this is a great old historic White House, and we would’ve loved to of visited the inside. Need some signage.
