Train Museum was a hit with our group of young kids (ages 2, 3, 5, 6) & adults alike. Kids entertained themselves for over an hour (pretty rare, especially for a museum...) with all the interactive exhibits & amazing attention to detail. Train enthusiasts will think they've died and gone to heaven!! Even non-enthusiasts are sure to find something of interest among the huge collection of train paraphernalia (some dating back to the 1800s) and other antique items on display. As an added bonus, a wooden train table (stocked with a ton of tracks, accessories & train cars) sits in the lobby/entrance area so kids can create their own tiny train mecca as well.

I have no background for collecting model train, but I am a car model collector. From my Perspective, somebody put their heart and soul in this museum, especially in the place it’s kind of remote. I understand some of people criticize this place is lack off educational material, but ask yourself what you could do? In a place lack of locals and probably helpers, it’s a Gem. Remember Lionel toy company bankrupt couple times, we are lucky to see those toy train still in motion.

Disappointing. Lots to look at but left museum not learning anything about the history, heritage or manufacturing of toy trains. Many antique toy trains nicely displayed in cabinets but with very little historical narrative or background. Mainly donor info included but nothing telling me what I’m looking at or why the piece is important. Operating layouts are only highlight but during my visit, only one layout had an operating train. I am a train enthusiast and collector of toy trains and my visit lasted less than 15 minutes.

This is a small museum with a lot of interactive exhibits. Kids would like it. Adults, maybe not as much. Worth the stop since the Railroad Museum and Strasburg RailRoad are so close.
