Thistle Golf Club, Sunset Beach

A very fine course in the Myrtle beach area. Amenities are top notch, service at the bag drop was excellent and the course overall is GREAT! I would say it is one of the more challenging courses too. It has a lot of water carry and plenty of opportunity to get in trouble or lose balls. I played pretty well but some in my group struggled badly. Given the cost, (approx $120) I'm not sure it's twice as good as some of the other courses that we play for $60. Don't get me wrong, I was very happy to get the opportunity to play here. If you have the bucks - recommend!!

Great golf. The greens and fairways are in excellent shape. The gps screens in each cart are very helpful and keeps the round moving. Clubhouse is very nice. Have never seen tvs in the bathroom. Food excellent and wonderful friendly service, reasonable price, cold beer.

My family went to NC for Labor Day weekend from Northern Virginia and chose Thistle Golf Club after reading that it is a two-century-old golf club. We had a great experience at this club. The staff was very friendly and we all felt that they really wanted to help the customers. We were taken aback by their enthusiasm in getting us prepared to get on the field by loading our golf bags onto the carts. The carts also had monitors with different options like requesting a replacement cart, ordering food, and even a course map with navigation ability showing the location of the cart and distance from the hole. Thistle Golf Club was the best experience of our Sunset Beach vacation. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant golfing experience!

Please don’t play here, it’s too good. They don’t overcharge like I generally prefer and the people are far too nice. I always have a great time here and being happy annoys me. Greens roll too clean so ball won’t bounce back on line, annoying. Ball sits up too high in the fairway… if I wanted tee’d up I’d do it myself. Otherwise an ok experience. The thistle golf course is probably one of the top 10 in myrtle beach area. And i have played here since mid 1980's. The clubhouse and bag drop were top notch. The starter was very informative and social. The course was very well manicured. Only thing that got me were greens were on the slow side and group in front held us up 4 plus hour round. Course was beautiful. Needs another beverage cart out there.
