Sylvan Beach Amusement Park: What the Guests are saying!

"A Blast From The Past ! ★★★★★"

Big doings at Historic Sylvan Beach Amusement Park. New purchaser pouring a fortune into a major multi -year restoration and expansion program which started in the spring of 07. Very retro flavor a real Coney Island/ Wild Wood boardwalk feeling lots of neon, great victorian and art deco architecture, very colorful. Beautiful sand beach, inspirational sunsets, great food and night life. A very family oriented park. Fun for all ages and we highly recommend it. Near Syracuse N.Y. Just off I 90 or I 81. on beautiful Oneida Lake.

“Totally worth a trip to the beach!”

"The amusement park here continues to fix itself up and offer new and fun things to do. There are a lot of new rides and the setting cannot be beat. We go regularly and there really is something here for everyone. Particularly recommended is the Halloween event--very professional and lots of laughs for any age. Also interesting to the park historian; the dark ride in particular is a museum piece that will bring back a lot of memories for anyone over 50."

“The Small Coney Island”

"I live just 6 miles from Sylvan Beach Amusement Park and have been going there since I was a small child when my parents took me, so it holds a special place in my heart with many great memories. Over the years more rides have been added which is great but the price per ride is a bit extreme. If you have children, definitely buy them a bracelet so they can ride all they want for one price. (Beware bumper boats are NOT included in this price). My favorite 2 rides there are the TIPTOP and the Galaxy Rollercoaster (although small is fun!). The Scrambler is also fun, especially if a lot of you are riding! We laugh and laugh! Then nearby you have some great restaurants like Yesterday's Royal (home made ice cream), Crazy Clam and Canalview Cafe. Try not to think about the price and just enjoy. That is what Life is about!"

  • On a road trip from Ohio visiting amusement parks in PA and NY and made a stop here for a few hours. This place feels just like a nostalgic seaside amusement park from the 50s. We were totally blown away by Galaxy, their roller coaster. It was so much fun that we rode it several times. The staff was friendly, but a bit short handed. They were able to cover all the rides though. They have so many spinny flat rides and some serious classics. They have one of only 6 surviving Roll-O-Plane rides left in existence! They also have a pretty rare Pretzel fun house. The Scrambler is in great shape and is currently the oldest one I was ridden!
  • Love going here with my kids or my friends to play the arcade games. It's a shame half the games don't work and the other half only work as far as playing goes but won't give you the tickets you're owed. We started to feel really bad about having to ask the poor overwhelmed employee to come look at the machines and give us the proper amount of tickets. It's still a fun time to go play some ski ball but, I would not say any ride there is worth the $5.25-$7 each ride costs. The nostalgia is still very alive but the infrastructure is failing faster by the day. It's too bad the economy has made it impossible to bring it back to it's glory. Glad it's still open though, the day it closes permanently would be a very sad day I hope never comes.
  • Nice place to visit. Took our 2 girls and got them the unlimited ride bands. Unfortunately they were not able to use them o. The water boat bumper cars. You need to purchase an additional 3 ticket each at $1.75 per ticket. I feel this is ridiculous after I just $70 for them to have unlimited rides. Besides that, they had a great time and liked the games as well. All the rides and games are very old and need renovations. We had lunch at a little shop within the park and it was not worth it at all. I wish I would have known earlier about the additional restaurants across the street. One of my girls got a slice of cheese pizza and it looked like it had been reheated several times. She couldn't even eat it. Overall the girls had fun and it was a nice day. Probably will not visit again.
  • I was here for the Charity Car Show Vette’s at the Beach run by the Syracuse Corvette Club. We enjoyed great food, great cars, and the view of the Lake.
  • I've been taking my girls here since they were babies and they continue to be enchanted with it. It's designed for tiny people, has a puppet show that runs two or three times a day, a small ferris wheel, train, slides. My girls are looking forward to it again and they are now 7 and 9 years old. It's also right on Lake Merritt where you can then go to the boating center, walk among the geese and ducks, visit the wild animal information center (don't know the official name), bird sanctuary, playground, and a number of great restaurants nearby. I love that Oakland has such a rough reputation because it's really the best city I've lived in.
