  • This attraction is near the Visitor's Center, and (obviously) the Fanny Bridge and the Truckee River. It's a nice building but it's a little hard to fund the entrance. The exhibits are pretty good...

  • Good place to visit while in Tahoe City. Rich local history, Olympic skies, dresses upstairs. First floor American Indian artifacts.

  • The gift shop while small, offers unique items. The curator is friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds offer a nice stroll to the lake's edge and the dam.
  • If you want to see everything about 1960 Winter Olympics this is the place to go. They have a mixture of other items to see as well. There's a great place out behind overlooking the lake where you can sit and eat or fish. The geese are plentiful.
  • Interesting museum. It's not that big so you can probably finish it in like 30mins. Gives a little bit of history on families that have lived in Tahoe area as well as some old articles of clothing, etc. They also have a section of Native American baskets. Loved the video that they were playing, as it was quite informative. It was $5 to get in.
  • Great museum of local history. Recommended for kids too. Beautiful nature spot surrounding great for picnic or fishing.
  • Museum staff (blonde woman) was so knowledgeable about indigenous washoe tribe. Had a terrific perspective on settlers that added so much value to the tour. Her details on each indigenous artifact was incredible. The basket collection alone is a reason to make the trip from any part of the Lake, or northern CA, for that matter. Well preserved tools, baskets, hats, necklaces from tribes throughout the west coast: cosalish to ohlone to mewok and washoe or course. I could spend hours at the American indian artifacts alone. $5 per person is totally worth it. Ended up staying for about 60 min.
