Old Saint Peter's Landmark, commonly referred to simply as Old St. Peter's, is a historic building located at the corner of 3rd and Lincoln Streets in downtown The Dalles, Oregon. It was built in 1897 and dedicated on March 17, 1898 as St. Peter's Church, and served the local Roman Catholic congregation as its place of worship until 1968. It was saved from scheduled demolition in 1971 by a group of concerned citizens who formed Old St. Peter's Landmark, Inc., for that specific purpose, and which maintains the building as a museum and site for weddings, concerts and other cultural events.

  • I was disappointed not to be able to go inside this lovely old building, as tour hours are limited. But it's stunning even from the outside.

  • Beautiful old Catholic church, now an historic site and event venue. Wonderful docent walked me thru the place and told me special details and stories. Definitely worth an hour. Check ahead-hours are limited.
  • Wonderful historic building that is well cared for. Knowledgeable and friendly guide.
  • Beautiful place! I'm so glad it was saved from demolition. It's a beautiful part of The Dalles history. The tour guide there was very sincere and friendly! She really knows her stuff. It's worth it to come here if you are Catholic and/or enjoy architecture and learning about local history.
  • I attended a concert here last night. Was a odd venue for that. Felt uptight. But the history and the artistry of the building is a sight to experience. Beautiful. This place is a historical landmark that was saved from being torn down. I recommend touring it.
  • This is a must see for any history buffs or just someone who appreciates art. This building was once going to be torn down but was restored and now can even host weddings for a very meager sum. If you go at the right time of day you can get the walking tour and be able to ring the bell!
