Bellingrath Gardens and Home, a former holiday fishing camp, features meandering paths among azaleas, camellias and annuals-filled beds--as well as a 15-room English Renaissance house. Prominent architect George B. Rogers designed the home and gardens for the Bellingraths in 1935. He and Bessie Bellingrath collected camellias and azaleas from across the South to enliven the garden. Stop by the fountain plaza--an artesian spring that has been contained and redirected into pleasing runnels to the Mermaid Pool, Grotto and Fowl River. Climb the steps of the rockery to see the terraced pools and waterfalls. Take time to explore the Bellingraths' home and its original furnishings. • I missed the azaleas, which is no one’s fault, but other than a few areas of run of the mill tulips, it was just “ok”. I got great enjoyment out of the hot house, but that’s about it. Course, it...

  • Beautiful gardens and memorable home! I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the huge grounds. House tour guide was good, sharing history of the special couple that made their money from an early Coca Cola...

  • Really interesting place. The story behind the home and gardens is story book. I thought the architecture was more impressive then the garden but the whole thing is worth the trip to this tucked away oasis. I noticed some folks looking to see certain types of flowers and they have a guide to when certain plants are in bloom. It was raining the day we were there but there were plenty of spots to hide until the rain past. Expect to spend a couple of hours wandering the grounds. They have audio tour you can access from your phone which tells a pretty good story. It’s an easy walk but they’re are some stairs in the house and steps in the garden some folks might be mindful of.
  • Beautiful landscaping and views, winding pathways, ponds, gorgeous and creative displays of lights are everywhere. There’s hot cocoa, fire pit to warm you up on cold nights, and other snacks and drinks, benches to rest, and a tour of the home for an extra fee if you are interested. We travel from far away each year to see this light display because it is the best!
  • The Christmas lights are amazing. However it was so all busy and crowded and I don't feel comfortable with covid exposures here. No one wore masks or socially distanced. It was also hard to get around with everyone trying to get pictures. Aside from that, it was pretty amazing. The lights were gorgeous and they're was Christmas music. Half the drink stands were closed, so the only area open did have a really long line for snacks and hot chocolate, and it was at the halfway point.
  • Pictures don't do ANY justice to how absolutely gorgeous this place is!!! My family and I visit this beautiful place every Christmas and we just love the atmosphere of it all! What a way to get in the holiday spirit! Highly recommend that you make at least one visit just see for yourself! You will not be disappointed!
  • Beautiful to visit in any season, they do an amazing job keeping flowers and plants growing and blooming year round. The festival lights in winter are absolutely stunning and the spring and summer flowers are breathtaking. There’s so much to see that you seem to discover something new with each visit.
