Canoe Escape, Thonotosassa

I went with my Father to get some quality Father & Son time. It was perfect. Staff was helpful to get us started. Suggested routes we could take depending on how much time we had. Lots of gators and birds to take in. Beautiful scenery and plenty of shade. I'm actually planning my next outing with a friend right now so wanted to drop a review of my experience and why I will be going back.

Both Brian and Hunter were awesome and so was my experience with Canoe Escape! I wanted to go kayaking for my birthday, and it was raining on that day. I didn’t mind the rain at all, but Hunter told us that we should paddle back if there was any lightning. I knew that getting lightning’d out was a possibility on a rainy day, but I still wanted to go. I was bummed out when we had to paddle back after maybe 10 minutes of being out on the water. Hunter took care of us and made it so that we could come back in a few days when we were free! I wasn’t expecting a refund or a reschedule so it was an awesome thing that we got to come back. The kayaking itself was really cool. I’ve been kayaking/canoeing/boating 1,000 times over the years but this was really special. It seemed like there was some kind of wildlife around every bend and on every log. It was like playing Pokémon Snap irl. We did the hourly rental for 3 hours, but I definitely recommend taking the van back for those who are beginners or those who don’t want a heck of an arm workout. The current definitely seems small as you’re paddling down the creek, but after you’ve been paddling for a couple hours already, going back up the creek could be tiring for folks who aren’t used to doing it (like kids and the elderly). There were also lots of logs and things to navigate around and that made things really fun. I’d say that it’s really good for beginners and intermediate kayakers!

What a great experience. The river is beautiful, there is tons of wildlife and I love that you get to go at your own pace. The instructors at the beginning were quite helpful and got us started. The trip overall was just what we wanted. Beautiful scenery, lots of alligators and birds and turtles. If you like the canoe or kayak I would highly recommend this.

Had lost of fun with my sister in Christ. We did a 3 hours by canoe and Good pricing I've seen other places go easily double the cost for a tandem canoe. The price also includes life jackets and paddles. We saw tons of gators and turtle's sun bathing and we also saw lots of birds. Beautiful place we'll be back for sure.

We had an amazing trip down the river ! Staff was friendly and efficient, even got a nice lesson on how to paddle. The transportation from the end back to your car is a huge bonus to trying to kayak on your own. Definitely recommend, fun for families!
