Take a trip to Cape Meares Lighthouse and immerse yourself in scenic nature, grand views, and historic sites. The refuge is a perfect place for hiking and spotting some of the rare indigenous species, such as spruce trees, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons. In addition to providing excellent views of the coastline, viewpoints along the shore are also great spots for whale watching. One of the highlights of the refuge is the historic lighthouse that helped mariners navigate along the coast from the late 19th century up until the 1960s. Today, it's open to the public and acts as a time capsule for the area's past; a gift shop housed within offers various souvenirs. The paved road leading to the lighthouse is wheelchair-accessible, but due to the incline wheelchair users may need some assistance. The lighthouse is a short walk through the evergreens from the parking area - the path approaches the lighthouse from the top, which was surprising. We could inspect the historic Fresnel lens up...

I am giving this a neutral review as we were unable to make it all the way there. We drove to within 2 miles but the approach road was under construction / washed out, so we could go no further. This.... more

Beautiful weather and awesome views! Took us through Oceanside to get there. We weren’t able to go up into the tower, but cute little shop inside and really nice view points. Don’t forget the Octopus Tree! Dog friendly!

What a beautiful majestic area. The old growth trees are cool to see and the views are amazing! What a great piece of history and scenery. As an Oregon native and resident I am still always surprised by the beauty we have all around us.

I really loved our visit! The video was really informative and it was neat to learn about the acquisition of the bulbs used for the lighthouse and how far they had to travel to arrive. The walk down was enjoyable and it's nice to stop at the lookout's and read the informative signs. The walk back to your car is a bit steep and might be a challenge for elderly or in a wheelchair.

I will never forget the feeling of looking at that beautiful old tower, the history behind, stories, not to mention the view from the little walk to the top of the hill. The ocean crushing at the feet of the Light House made me feel and made me imagining in a old ship in the middle of the night hundreds years a go. I lived moments that only been there can give to you.

We were the only people here on a foggy day - there are lots of signs that talk about the wildlife in the area, some gorgeous views, and the cutest lighthouse at the end of the trail. Lots to see in a smaller area. It isn't too steep of a walk and kids would enjoy.
