Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, Toledo

Trees are scientifically good for you, so a trip to Oak Openings was just what our traveling, hotel cooped-up bodies needed. Just being amongst the trees, with the negative ions was heaven for me. I was drooling at all the nature shots available and wished we would have gotten there sooner, so we could have spent more time enjoying the crisp air and beautiful scenery. As it was, they closed at dark, and we had about an hour to enjoy ourselves. I got some beautiful shots to share with you. I just can't get that healthy, crisp forest air to download properly for you to benefit from.

Oak Openings Preserve Metropark is a huge park located in Swanton close to Toledo Airport. This park has bicycle trails in miles and miles along with walking trails. It has a beautiful kids playing area and a lake in the middle of the park. It is a great attraction point where you will see many deer roaming around. It is so much peaceful as it is away from the crowded area and the city. Highly recommended place to visit near Toledo area.

Awesome find while out Ohio road tripping. Wish I would of had time to explore more of the park. The pond by the Buehner Center was awesome. A little man man waterfall and several picnic shelters. Nice, clean restroom facilities located there. The pond or lake is catch and release. Would like to make it back sometime again.

I have been coming here for over 50 years, first with parents later with my children, now with wife!! We stayed in treehouse couple years ago and it was perfect. Today we stayed at the caretakers cottage and it was really nice, great fire pit lots of beds, modern kitchen and bathroom.

One of the best biking trails in the area with the connection to the Wabash Cannonball trail which goes for many miles! Even on a 70 degrees fall weekend it wasn’t too busy. Was nice to note that the trail in the park itself was recently repaved, very nice surprise. Was such a relaxing and beautiful bike ride among natural surroundings!
