On the site of one of the few remaining colonial lighthouses in the country today, Tybee Island Light Station And Museum provides the history of the structure and its human users through nearly three centuries of existence. Originally constructed in 1736 and modified over 250 years, the 44 m (144 ft) tall lighthouse changed hands multiple times in its lifetime, most recently falling under Confederate control during the American Civil War. You can explore the museum's exhibits, artifacts, and treasures from the lighthouse's history, which are housed in former gunpowder magazines in the surrounding military installation. Be aware that the 178 steps to the top of the tower pose a challenge. If you have mobility or health issues, they are best avoided. Enjoyed the history, toured the historic building and made it to the top of the lighthouse. View was a little foggy but still worth the climb up the stairs. All the staff was great and very helpful.

The lighthouse was a neat place to visit. The employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The lighthouse has a lot of history, and was really neat to check out. The views from the top were amazing, and couldn't be beat. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Definitely worth the drive if you are visiting Savannah! Great experience. Tickets include entry to the Ft. Screen museum and parking for up to 2 hours. Plan about 2 hours for both. Lots of history to learn. You're able to into all of the public buildings on property and step back into time while visiting the residence. There is also an educational video available to watch. Beach access and a little beach bar is within walking distance as well, although your parking will only cover the 2 hour tour.

An amazing historic site!! The light house and buildings on site have been totally renovated but kept in its original form as much as possible. Very impressive learning how the last light keeper lived with his family of six on the property. you can view the home go inside, most of the original furniture was kept. The lighthouse is 178 stairs to climb, five flights of stairs. Exhausting but it has beautiful views when you reach the top totally very well worth it. Lots of picture opportunities throughout. Beautiful items in the gift shop.free Parking readily available. On

Enjoyed ourselves. If you are visiting for the first time, it's 178 stairs to the top. Be careful and enjoy the scenery on your way up. The landings are good for a small break. Be sure to check out all the little cottages and museum.

A must-see and experience if you’re in the vicinity. Adult ticket to lighthouse + museum is $12 and you got 2-hour parking. A good climb to top of lighthouse. Could be a bit windy up there. Lots of history and we had a great family time.
