Crazy how these things happen. I wandered into this place just out of curiosity. The young man behind the counter (really nice young guy) asked me if I want to go into the museum. I'll be honest, I was not so excited at first since it kind of looks small from where you enter the building, but I was wrong. First floor is really interesting. All about the gold mining that went on there. The second floor has some amazing artifacts and rooms which are set up the way they would have been back in the day. Pretty amazing place really. Impressive collection and well worth the stop.

Great collection of old mining equipment with a ton of information. You could breeze through this in 10 minutes or spend a full 2 hours. Either way you’ll definitely enjoy it. Super nice people working there too. They also offer a bus tour of the mining district that was also quite nice.

I have been coming to colorado to my family's house since I was born and I have never experienced anything as awesome as this tour! Our tour guide was great and the mine was unbelievable. Great views and you get up close and personal with the mine and its process. The giant trucks were my favorite part! I literally felt like I was in a Transformers movie all day. Worth the money and the drive. We will be doing this every summer now!
