Young Arena is a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Waterloo, Iowa, United States, and was built in 1994. It is home to the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League, the Waterloo Warriors of the Midwest High School Hockey League, the Waterloo Youth Hockey Association, the University of Northern Iowa Hockey Club, the Waterloo Adult Hockey Association and the Cedar Valley Figure Skating Club. Young Arena has also hosted the NCAA Division III wrestling championships, AAU youth wrestling tournaments and a College basketball game in December 1997 between UNI and UMKC.

We have gone to Young Area for the open ice skating as well as Black Hawk hockey games. If you go to a game, you have to try the cheese curds!

We travel from 3 hours away to enjoy a hockey game every year at this venue. The facilities are welcoming and useful. The staff goes above and beyond to insure a fun experience.

For what it’s worth the Waterloo Blackhawks usually have a fun team to watch. Young Arena is a decent place to watch some good hockey. Good sight lines for the most part. Besides good hockey and decent sight lines I don’t need much. The concessions are nothing noteworthy and prices are up there just like everything else. The crowd is a good mix of all walks of life as well as many die hards and their cowbells and their teenagers with cowbells and their new borns with cowbells…… Ps…..public skating and walking are offered during the crummy months also. Enjoy!

Awesome place! It looks like it did when they opened!!! Super clean!! Great for all events and my wife and I walk there when weather is bad. We are lucky to have it, great job !!!!!!! I'm adding a few comments and photos to my original review, I reviewed this awhile ago . I still go there often and it is still an awesome place!!! Very clean and fun. I also go there to walk!!! Love it!!
