Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Wellfleet

One of the truly wonderful environments on the entire Cape with a number of easily walkable trails. There is also an excellent visitor/education center. Admission gratis for Audubon members and very reasonable for non-members. (Note - suggest bringing insect repellent during times when there are a lot of mosquitoes about. This is the case with many wooded venues on the Cape.) Together with the National Seashore, one of the “must-see” places in Eastham-Wellfleet.

This is a lovely place to walk and go birding. We are Mass Audubon members and joined a walk with a naturalist that was quite informative. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day for a talk around their bird feeders. Recommend you visit as well as become a member to support this organization.

Always my favorite place to visit mid-cape for a nature walk. A choice of beautiful trails and countless kinds of birds to see and hear, as well as other types of wildlife in a beautiful salt marsh habitat. The visitor center is beautiful and has some fascinating exhibits. The staff is so helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable. Worth the visit!

Wow! This was a highlight of our trip to the Cape. The visitor's center is worth checking out before you head outside, with lots of live fish and good learning content as well as a small butterfly garden which was full of orioles during our visit in May. The Goose Pond trail made for great birding and the marshes and boardwalks provided good views of shorebirds and gulls. The staff were friendly and happy to answer our questions about the birds we saw on our walk. A great place to spend time and such a special sanctuary for wildlife!

Visitor center had lots of great information and exhibits about the local plants and animals. Nice trails that lead to Cape Cod bay, and very knowledgeable guides along the paths to tell you more about the area.
