Southland Casino Hotel, West Memphis

We fid NOT go into the Casino. We did stay overnight in the semi parking lot. The lot is patrolled throughout the night. If you have a camper the security may give you better parking at the front of the casino. We were unable to go to the front, because we had a dog.

Decided to try the new hotel at Southland while coming home from a driving vacation. Hotel is almost brand new and is a very nice property. Rooms comfy and quiet. Ate at the restaurant next to the coffee shop on the way to the casino - if you like down home cooking this is the place! There were 3 in our party and we all had different entrees, it was tough to pick a favorite as the food was uniformly excellent. Everyone we dealt with, from security to valet to front desk to restaurant staff was polite, professional and well trained. My mother in law is a retired Marriott GM so her standards are pretty high and she was very impressed. Casino also looked recently refreshed and was all non smoking (thank you). It’s aggravating that the cheapest blackjack table is $15, but that seems to be the norm in Arkansas. This was just an overnight stop in the way home but this would be a good place to settle for a long weekend in Memphis.

The new addition to the casino is very nice and well kept. The greyhound racing area is run down and should be an attraction but you can tell they have not run it correctly. The buffet is very average and still have to pay for your drinks. We did stay the night in the hotel and booked a 5 person room. We expected 2 beds and a couch. The hotel staff was ZERO help when we quested the two bed they stated “ well you should have know with just two beds”. Would not stay here again.

Upon arrival to Southland Casino, and Hotel, we were greeted with smiles by security and made our way to check in. There was no valet or bellhop available. However, this was not a problem for us as we do not mind gathering our luggage. When we were trying to check in at the front desk their were no rooms available. We checked out the casino floor and it is gorgeous and we love that it was smoke-free! There were so many slots to choose from and I was in slot bliss!! After an hour, there were still no rooms available and the shift had changed. Thank you to Sarah, Rontravis and another gentleman; they took excellent care of us and made us feel valued as first time guest! They were able to get us into our room. We truly appreciate them going the extra mile to check for room availability as we did not want to stay anywhere else during our visit. I won the Wake Up Happy Promotion, a lucky guest gets $500 free play added to their players card. That was so cool and a wonderful way to wake up! The room was huge and food was amazing. We cannot wait to come back to Southland Casino & Hotel! I’m giving them five stars because they were able to rectify the situation with doing the leg work to get us into a room. On 10/29/22 me and my husband drove 4 hour to Memphis. Check in at 4 our room wasn't ready. Then they said they will call us. 7pm comes around I fo back they say we will give you 3o% off and the room still wasn't ready. I ask to speak to a manager and they said they will send a manager over to talk to me. Manager never came. 8 I told them 30% not enough. Then 8:40 something come around. I told them to cancel my reservation and me and my husband have to drive back 4 hour. They ruin our trip and was not trying to give a reasonable accommodation for it. Not to mention while we waited eat at the kitchen for twice that was like $111. Then 2 drinks at the bar it was like $27 while we waited. And they talking about 30%. The manager never came over to talk to me or call me when she got. Back down like they said she would. I will never book there again. I probably will never got to the casino there because of it.
