Witness one of the finest examples of Louis XVI-Rococo architecture outside of Europe at Nemours Estate. Alfred l. du Pont commissioned the 121 hectare (300 acre) country estate in 1909 as a gift for his second wife and in celebration of his French heritage. The chateau-style mansion and expansive French formal gardens can be explored through a guided tour. Inside, visitors are treated to valuable 18th-century French furniture and artworks by European masters, while the outside reveals imposing fountains, reflective pools, and lush woodland. Be sure to wear sensible shoes to ensure your comfort when exploring the large property. Garden tours must be booked in advance. • On a brilliantly sunny spring day, Nemours was set amid beautiful gardens. The building is gorgeous and the docents were knowledgeable but unobtrusive. Beautiful architecture and design.

  • This is such a beautiful and fascinating place. The tour guides posted throughout the mansion were very helpful and informative. I went in December and it was a bit rainy so I did the inside only...

  • I am so glad that I was finally able to get here! What's not to like about this fabulous place? Nothing! They have a wonderful staff there to make sure that your day is pleasant. Can't walk a lot? No problem! I brought my mother who is nearing 80. We got a ride to and from the parking lot to the Mansion in one of their golf carts. The Mansion is air conditioned. There were plenty of places to sit in the mansion and there was a small tour that can take you around the grounds if you don't want to walk it! Can you believe they let you walk on the grass? :) The staff is so knowledgeable and you can take pictures inside and out (except no flash photography). Thanks to those who have preserved this place for all to enjoy. If you like a bit of history, art and a beautiful gardens, don't miss this one!
  • We had the most fabulous time here. The place is well staffed with friendly employees who are knowledgeable and appear to love what they do. The gardens and the house blew me away. We enjoyed the guided tours and loved walking the grounds on our own too. You can easily spend the whole day here.
  • Just to start with it is one of the DuPont’s family estates so be prepared it is a gem. We have visited this beautiful place both in summer and in winter. It is gorgeous in any season. Gardens during warmer months are fantastic you will have a feeling that you’re in France. And in the winter time especially around Christmas the mansion looks charming like some about to start the ball. We drove an hour to visit and it was worth it.
  • We have wonderful time here. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. All were so kind to take out picture and tell about the estate history. Great place for friend and family. I visited in winter time make sure you do outer garden before then go to estate. Will visit again in summer with family. Great place to take photos
  • What a beautiful estate. Visiting what I always dreamt of owning, it took my breath away walking and touring the Nemours Estate. We visited with our three small children, and it was enough walking that they enjoyed it without getting overly tired before we saw the entire property. It is amazing how much land is there to see, but we spent 2.5 hours walking majority of the grounds, touring the mansion and garage. Parking was very easy, but when we were leaving (around 2-3 pm), there were only a few spots to choose from. Most of the staff are very friendly, and you can tell they have a genuine interest in the history of the property. Would definitely return for a photoshoot in the near future, because the grounds are too gorgeous to not get pictures professionally taken here as well.
