Known as one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains, Whiteface Mountain is home to the esteemed White Face Ski Resort. The site that hosted all six skiing events in the 1980 Winter Olympics, this resort boasts 87 different ski trails accessible by nine chairlifts, one gondola, and one conveyor lift. Get your adrenaline rush from the highest continuous vertical drop in eastern North America, at 1,045 m (3,430 ft). Drive to the summit via the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway and admire 360-degree views of the surrounding Adirondacks. You may even catch a glimpse of Vermont or Montreal in the distance on a clear day. During summertime, the mountain offers scenic gondola rides and is also a haven for mountain biking and hiking. • Went there to ski with the kids--great place and beautiful views all around. Price is to be expected and friendliness of staff is great.

  • You have to pay just to drive up the mountain... and then it closes at 4pm. So if you don't come early- don't bother. I was a 2 hour drive away and ended up not even going. I was really looking...

  • There's a toll road charging 20$ per person to drive up which i think is excessive for the entry. Apart from that the small but steep hike to the summit is well worth it. The views from the top are unparalleled.
  • Loved to watch Adirondack mountains from the summit here. It’s been 6 days and the memories and views still refresh me. The drive up mountain is a toll road of about 20 mins. $20 for vehicle plus driver and $20 for each additional passenger. There is a small hike from the parking at top to the summit which should not be missed. Did not use elevator and castle has only gift shop access. There was ongoing work on other side of the castle. Ticket includes price for both but did not add any value for us. I would consider hike up the mountain for a full experience.
  • Always a fun mountain with more challenging trails. Wilmington trail has gorgeous views and is such a nice long ride. Been coming here for years, and will keep coming back!
  • We hiked 5.2 miles up to the Summit and it was so worth it. The views were spectacular and honestly pictures just aren’t enough. This is something you should definitely experience once in your lifetime. There was an option of taking the “steps” up to the top or the elevator. The staff up top was also friendly and informational. I know that you can also drive to the top instead of hiking. The trail was a bit tricky but beautiful.
  • It was a disappointment. May be my expectation was too high. The entry fee was $20 which also included parking on the top. If you plan to go, make sure to carry a jacket or pullover as it gets cold at the top. I don’t think it was worth $20. And it gets little crowded at the top.
